Kasardevi Who knew a small hilltop village near Almora would be such a hit among Swami Vivekananda, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, and Jawaharlal Nehru? Surrounded by pines and towering deodars, Kasardevi is the highlight of Almora (pun intended). Perched at an altitude of 2116 m above sea level, lies Kasardevi temple dating to the 2nd century.

Bird Watching With many forests and countless trekking trails, the area is also known to have a huge number of species of birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers. One can spot wood peckers, mynahs, pipits, red and jungle-fowls, Indian peafowl, and blue whistling thrushes and more. Pangot, which is about 45 kms. from the town, is known to have about 2000 species of birds.
